A Brief History of Swish Electric Curtain Tracks

Silent Gliss acquired the Autoglide brand name in 2007 from Swish, a company that had been making electric curtain tracks for decades. Their best-selling product was the Swish Deluxe Curtain Track, and it was genuinely good for its time. We still hear from people whose original Swish tracks have lasted 15 or 20 years.

Since acquiring Swish, Silent Gliss have completely re-engineered the Autoglide through the 5070, 5080, and 5090 series. The current model, the Autoglide 5100, is the result of nearly two decades of refinement. It is quieter, smoother, and more reliable than any Swish track ever was.

Why You Cannot Repair a Swish Track

Spare parts for Swish tracks stopped being manufactured several years ago. Motors, gliders, end stops, and control units are all unavailable. If your Swish motor has failed or the track is sticking, replacement is the only realistic option.

Upgrading from a Swish to the Autoglide 5100

The good news is that the 5100 uses the same basic wall bracket spacing, so in many cases you can fit the new track to your existing bracket positions. The motor is smaller and quieter, the gliders are smoother, and you get a proper remote control system rather than the old pull-cord or basic switch.
