An eco-home wrapped in copper — with motorised Wave curtains inside
Designed by Adrian James Architects on the outskirts of Oxford, Copper Bottom is a house that generates more energy than it consumes. With 37 solar panels, an air-source heat pump, triple glazing, and a timber frame wrapped in folded copper cladding, every detail serves a purpose.
The window treatments are no exception. Silent Gliss 5600 electric curtain tracks carry Wave curtains in Colorama 1 Multicolour fabric. When closed, the textured waves gently filter daylight into a warm, diffused glow — reducing the need for artificial lighting. When open, the curtains stack back to a slim profile, maximising the natural light that the building is designed to capture.
For the bedrooms, hand-operated dim-out curtains on Silent Gliss tracks ensure restful sleep without any motors or standby power.
The 5600 was chosen here for its integration with the home’s energy systems. For a simpler setup with the same Wave curtain look, the Autoglide 5100 plugs into any standard socket — no electrician, no wiring, no fuss.
