Silent Gliss 4960 Mains Electric Roller Blinds are quiet, smooth, fast and available in a range of advanced fabrics to suit any home or office in styles from quaint to ultra-professional.

Controlled wirelessly by remote, the 4960 is easy to install, can be fitted to a ceiling, a wall or inside a recess.

The 4960 is designed to be wired directly into the mains by a qualified electrician.

Fixing and Fitting

Fixing and fitting

4960's can be fixed up to the ceiling, for example in side a window recess, or to a wall. We will send the correct brackets to match your selection on the blind designer.

The brackets are easy to fix by a competent DIYer and the blind simply clips to them.

The blind is to be wired into the mains power supply by an electrician.

You will just need rawl plugs and screws suitable for your fixing surface.

A popular option for a new-build is to have the 4960 fitted into a special recessed headbox built in above the window. This completely hides all parts of the blind when open and sees the fabric appear as if from nowhere when the blind operates. Get in touch with us if you would like to know more.

Fabrics

Fabric Sizes

You can choose any width from 60cm up to 240cm and any drop height from 60cm up to 400cm.

Please note, only certain fabrics are available between 190 and 240cm and these will be reflected in the options given to you in the blind builder.

The fabric on your blind will be 1.7cm (17mm) narrower than the width of entire system on each side, so if the blind is going in a recess, check this gives you enough coverage. It is normally fine as most window frames are wider than this.

Choice of Fabrics

The fabrics we offer for this range of blinds are Silent Gliss' own, specifically designed and refined for this application.

We currently offer fabrics from their two most popular groups, Colorama 1 and Colorama 2, which have both vivid and more toned-down colours to suit any application.

The fabrics are the same colours in both groups, but:

Colorama 1 is slightly thinner and therefore more transparent than Colorama 2.
Colorama 2 is thicker and lets less light through.

What's In The Box?

Your roller blind comes fully assembled and is supplied with batteries, fixing brackets and any control options you select.

You will receive a sturdy and well-packaged box containing your whole order.

All you'll need extra are items such as rawl plugs and screws to fit your blind to your chosen surface.

Control Options

The 4960 can be hard wired to a wall switch, but this is normally only done on a new-build to save channelling out the walls.

For maximum flexibility, the 4960 comes with a built-in radio receiver that works with a wide range of Silent Gliss remote controls. There are wireless wall switches, handheld remotes and even a system that allows control via mobile phone or tablet app.

Please measure your blinds to the nearest centimetre (cm), ideally using a steel tape measure as they provide better accuracy over longer distances.

For a roller blind inside a window recess:

In this case you'd usually choose the Ceiling fix bracket option below to fix to the top of the recess. You might select Face fix if you're screwing straight to the window frame within a recess. Enter the width and drop as measured according to the instructions below. Don't worry about taking off any size for clearance, we do this when building the blind. You'll receive a complete blind perfectly fitted to your recess.

We recommend measuring at a few different points, in case your window recess isn't exactly square, and using the smallest measurement.

For a roller blind fixing outside of a window recess, i.e. to the wall

In this case you'd normally select the Wall fix bracket option as you'll be screwing into the wall. Make sure there's nothing around the window that will get in the way of your blind. Decide on the amount you want the blind to overlap the window at the top bottom and sides.

There are numerous ways to control the 4960 blind.

Without any controllers, it can be hard-wired to a wall switch by an electrician, but this would normally be done while your house is being built, to save channelling out the wall afterwards.

The most common method is to add one or more of the following remote controls so no further wiring is required after getting power to the blind.

Single Channel Wireless Wall Switch (Silent Gliss 11480)

The "single channel" part of the name means that the controller will control one or more products, but all at once, instead of individually. So, you could have four products in one room, and the one controller will open and control all of them at the same time.

If you want to be able to control products independently from the same controller, look for the multi-channel controllers.

5-Channel Wireless Wall Switch (Silent Gliss 11490)

This 5 channel wireless switch will allow you to control five products, or groups of products, independently. This means you could have five products in a room, and control each of them separately from the same remote, or you could have ten products in a room and control them in groups of two, for example.

You just set each product to belong to one of the channels on the remote control (this is simple to do and full instructions are provided).

This 5 channel remote can also control all the products at once, regardless of which channel, or group, they belong to.

Move Server Set including Transmitter Stick (9960)

This Silent Gliss Move Server and Transmitter Stick set allows you to control your Silent Gliss track or blind from an app on your PC, smartphone or tablet.

The 'Move Server' connects to your internet router, and the Transmitter Stick allows you to control up to 15 channels for full control over your tracks or blinds. You can use the Move App to control and program, including closing and opening at sunset and sunrise times.
